DiskCheck 4.2 Beta
This beta test refers to the self-booting version of DiskCheck only.
Objectives of the beta test
We would like to know which USB devices DiskCheck 4.2 Beta will recognize (or won't recognize) in comparison to your current version of HDClone. Any differences are interesting, meaning as well if DiskCheck 4.2 Beta will recognize USB devices better as the other way round.
Creating a bootable medium
Please use the Boot-Setup to create a bootable DiskCheck USB-key at first, where you can also store the log file later. For comparison, a self-booting version of HDClone on an arbitrary boot medium is required.
Test sequence
- Create a bootable USB-key of DiskCheck 4.2 Beta (as described above)
- Keep a bootable medium with HDClone ready (or create one)
- Start HDClone from the bootable medium and verify the USB devices recognized:
- USB storage media: hard disks, SSDs, USB-keys, flash storage etc.
- USB input devices: mouse, keyboard, trackball, touchpad etc.
- Then start DiskCheck 4.2 Beta from the bootable medium and verify the USB devices are recognized and usable now and if there are any differences.
Test results
A. DiskCheck 4.2 Beta recognizes MORE USB devices
If DiskCheck 4.2 Beta recognizes or turns usable MORE USB devices than HDClone, please send us the following information:
- Exact HDClone version number (for example 4.1.5, click on sheep logo)
- Vendor and type name of the USB devices which have been recognized by DiskCheck 4.2 Beta, but not in HDClone
HDClone
B. DiskCheck 4.2 Beta recognizes LESS USB devices
If MORE devices are recognized or usable with HDClone than with DiskCheck 4.2 Beta, please send us the following information:
- Exact HDClone version number (for example 4.1.5, click on sheep logo)
- Vendor and type name of the USB devices which have been recognized by DiskCheck 4.2 Beta, but not in HDClone
- Log file of DiskCheck 4.2 Beta (creation see below)
Please note: This beta test is only about USB devices. Of course we are happy about any information on other device types, but we will only be able to examinate such information at a later point in time.
Creating a log file
The log file is only required if DiskCheck 4.2 Beta will not recognize USB devices. Please create and send us the log file as follows:
- Download the file BOOTLOG.ZIP here.
- Extract the contained file BOOTLOG.LOG and store it to the root folder (for example E:) of the bootable DiskCheck USB-key
- Start DiskCheck from the bootable USB medium
- Wait about one minute from startup and then create a log file by either
- pressing the keys CTRL + ALT + F12 and selecting the USB-key for storing in the window that will appear or
- doing a SOFT REBOOT of the computer, start DiskCheck again from the bootable USB medium and then remove it. It the will have the log file written onto it.
Send the BOOTLOG.LOG file and if existing the SYMOBI.x.LOG from the USB medium by email to beta@miray.de, if possible in compressed form and together with the device information of the testing results (see above).
